As Doctrow states in his bibliography, TOR does exist and is ready for your use. According to the website, "Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis." Beware, however, as the site will explain, you should not just download the installation and continue web surfing. To learn more about The Onion Router, visit this link.

Pour distinguer l'extérieur de l'aquarium, mieux vaut n'être pas poisson.

--Malraux, 1947, Le Musée Imaginaire

Some say 1984's more about the BBC (where Orwell worked) than the USSR, but the novel is open to so many interpretations, n'est-ce pas?

Animal Farm is deeper really, and now we're farming minds in cyberspace, we should give it a shout too.

Me, my favourite line in all of Orwell comes in Down and Out in Paris and London, when a fellow tramp, invited by Orwell to rest in a public library declines with the line, 'No, de sight of all dat bloody print makes me sick.'

It might be worth noting that Newton did not coin (pun unintended) this phrase, with it being used as early as the twelth century.
