They are also known as Beatniks. It is believed that the generation of Beats transformed into hippies in the 1960’s. <a href="http://blackboard.quinnipiac.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp?tab=courses&url=/bin/common/course.pl?course_id=_58339_1&frame=top" rel="nofollow">Allen Ginsberg</a> was one of the more popular beat writers/poets.
