I’m teaching a freshman seminar (beginning in a week) in which we will be reading LB. I wonder if my students might be able to help out with this project in some formal way? Just thinking out loud.
What do you think about internal cross-referencing in the annotations?
I can suggest two ways to do it. First, have a Wikipedia-style, but automatic word recognition cross-reference linking for less common words that you can also add to the end in an index (Note that if this is a potential option, consider letting the reader have the ability to turn that linking on and off so that the text is not cluttered).
Second option is just to let annotators do limited manual linking within the annotations. For example, Chapter 2, Para 27 refers to LARPing, which is introduced at Chapter 1, Para 74. It might be useful to include a link to the first instance in the later, so the reader, seeing “LARP” again, can say, “Oh, I’ve seen that term before in the book. Now what did it say again?”, and then be able to use the annotations to find it with ease.
Perhaps overkill, but in my opinion very convenient and thorough (and also prevents redundancies when a potential annotator comes across a term that has already been annotated or defined (in the book or in annotations) ).
What thinkest thou?

I think it’s a great idea. Probably not *all* that hard to implement with a bit of jQuery (maybe clicking on the highlighted word takes you to a list of “keywords in context” as part of an index or something), but I’m afraid I have zero time over then next 8 weeks or so to do it. So, I guess the answer is–that sounds good, but it will probably have to wait unless someone wants to take it on.
I am aware of the IE issues. They will be fixed as soon as I have time to diagnose. For now, experiment with other browsers .

I couldn’t find any better place to post this, but I did want to ask whether you could please correct the spelling of ‘Foreword’ in the index?
I know this may come across as very nitpicky, but I would much appreciate it.
This is where you can add questions.

Great idea! I tried to do something similar a year ago but have been too busy (2 jobs, baby, a million other ideas in my head) to do much with it. http://visualcompanion.org/wiki/index.php/Little_Brother
Also, Cory has a FB page for LB which includes pics of some of the locales. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=17095&id=20086077168

Thanks.
Not nitpicky at all. Not sure how that slipped through. Fixed now.
